Virginia City Tour - Best of the West Tour with Lunch
Once a vital settlement between Denver and San Francisco, Virginia City influenced the entire country. During its heyday Virginia City’s mining proceeds amounted to millions of dollars, equaling billions today. Every inch of this picturesque, Victorian-era town celebrates this colorful history. Stroll the authentic board sidewalks to Old West saloons, shops, and museums. Lunch will be hosted at one of the many restaurants in this quaint town. Visit historic churches, cemeteries, 19th century homes, and public buildings. In the afternoon we board the historic V&T Railroad for a 30-minute train excursion to Gold Hill. Hear all about the history and legions of the Comstock from the comfort of your seat. And finally, we depart for Carson City, the state capitol of Nevada, for a driving tour of the historic district, a drive by the Governor’s Mansion, Bliss Mansion and much more. We return to our hotel with a delightful stop at the Chocolate Nugget, known for its exceptional candies and ice cream
Lake Tahoe Day Tour with Lunch and Historic Truckee
See the best of the Lake Tahoe area all in one tour! Your expert local guide will take us on a journey especially designed just for your group. Travel over the Sierra Nevada’s and arrive in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Learn all about the history, facts and legions of the largest Alpine Lake in North America, and the second deepest. We will make a stop in Tahoe City to visit the infamous Fanny Bridge and Gatekeepers cabin, located on the banks of the Truckee River and Lake Tahoe. Enjoy a hosted lunch over-looking beautiful Lake Tahoe. Next we travel along the Truckee River to Donner Memorial State Park and a photo stop at the site of the Donner Camp, where members of the ill-fated Donner Party were trapped by weather during the winter of 1846–1847. We complete our tour with a fun and enchanting visit to the historic town of Truckee, with boutiques, bars, ice cream shops, visitor center, museums and more.
Discover Pyramid Lake and the Paiute Tribe with Luncheon
Depart Reno and travel north on the Pyramid Highway. Our first stop will be at the National Wild Horse and Burro Center. Operated by the Bureau of Land Management, this facility can hold up to 2,000 horses as well as utilize local inmates to train wild horses and make these horses available to the public for adoption. Next we’re off to the Pyramid Lake Museum to learn about the local Paiute Tribe through history, culture and to offer insight of these fascinating indigenous people, with displays, exhibits, and presentation. Our journey continues to Pyramid Lake — the largest natural lake in the state of Nevada, covering 125 acres. The lake is surrounded by unusual rock formations, including the Stone Mother. Home to the Paiute Indian tribe adding mystique and many myths and tales surrounding it. Lunch will be included at the Pyramid Lake Marina.
