Corbitt Trucks: A Legacy on Wheels

Presented by Steve Rosemond

An early advertisement for Corbitt Motor Trucks touted their ability to "Master Every Hauling Challenge," and they lived up to that claim. Founded in 1899 in Henderson, North Carolina, Corbitt started with buggies before moving into automobiles and, eventually, heavy-duty trucks built to tackle the toughest jobs. By the 1920s, Corbitt trucks were a trusted choice for logging, freight, and construction. But their toughest test came during World War II, when they built the Model 50SD6, a 6x6 military transport designed to haul heavy artillery and equipment. These battlefield workhorses proved Corbitt’s reputation for strength and reliability was well-earned. Even though Corbitt ceased production in 1952, their legacy lives on with collectors and trucking history enthusiasts. Whether on job sites, highways, or battlefields, Corbitt trucks were built to get the job done. Join ATHS Today!
